Binghamton Mayor Announces He’s Tested Positive for COVID-19
Binghamton Mayor Richard David says he will be "resting at home" after learning he had tested positive for COVID-19.
David made the announcement Thursday morning. In a statement released by his office, he said he tested positive late Wednesday.
The mayor said he is "feeling fine." He said he will follow the recommendations of health care providers on treatment and isolation.
David said he is working with the health department to ensure proper contact tracing.
The mayor said he continues to encourage area residents to follow guidelines, including wearing masks in public, social distancing and frequent hand washing.
David on Wednesday participated in a Syracuse event with several other upstate mayors.
At least two of them, Ben Walsh of Syracuse and Svante Myrick of Ithaca, have said they will quarantine themselves as a precaution.
