A Broome County resident was arrested after he allegedly posed as a court investigator in the town of Kirkwood.

Aurhorities say 35-year-old Joseph McCabe of Binghamton was charged with second-degree criminal impersonation, a misdemeanor.

According to New York State Police, investigators determined McCabe "falsely identified himself as a public servant."

The incident is said to have occurred on February 23 when McCabe presented himself as a court investigator.

McCabe was arrested at his Binghamton residence. He was ordered to appear in Kirkwood town court on March 31.
