The City of Binghamton is getting $145,000 to support homeless prevention efforts.

Mayor Richard David says the funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development is being split between the Family Enrichment Network, YWCA Emergency Housing Program, YWCA Street Outreach and Catholic Charities of Broome County.

The funds are under the federal Emergency Solutions Grant.

The Family Enrichment Network is getting $55,567 for the Caring Homes Program that works to prevent a family from becoming homeless by helping with back-rent and utility bills or helping to get a security deposit to get into a stable home.

The YWCA Emergency Housing Program is getting $47,036 while its Street Outreach program is getting $27,464.

Catholic Charities of Broome County is getting $15,500 dollars for its Teen Transitional Living Program that helps identify homeless young people and get them into stable housing.
