Binghamton Woman Charged After Hitting Patrol Car on Court Street
A driver whose car slammed into a sheriff's office patrol vehicle pulled over for a traffic stop in Binghamton has been arrested.
Authorities say 22-year-old Kiarra McGregor of Binghamton was charged with driving while intoxicated and consumption of an alcoholic beverage in a vehicle. She also was cited for failing to move over for an emergency vehicle.
According to the Broome County Sheriff's Office, a 2008 Dodge Charger driven by McGregor crashed into the rear of a patrol car on Upper Court Street around 10:35 p.m. Thursday.
The patrol vehicle was pushed forward into a pickup truck that had been pulled over for a traffic stop.
The 36-year-old man who had been driving the truck was thrown 12 feet when he was hit by the patrol car. He complained of pain but declined medical treatment.
The sheriff's deputy who was on a sidewalk outside her patrol car was not injured.
McGregor was treated at the scene for a minor laceration she sustained in the crash. She then was taken to the sheriff's office headquarters because she showed signs of intoxication.
Authorities say she refused to submit to a breath test. She was released on appearance tickets for Binghamton city court.
