Binghamton Mayor Jared Kraham says the carousels are open and families can cool off for free at city pools.

While taking a spin at the Recreation Park Carousel to officially open the merry-go-round for the season, the Republican announced the pools at Rec. Park, Cheri Lindsey Memorial Park, Webster Park and Fairview Park and the spray pad at Columbus Park will open for the season May 28 with no fee.

The small pool at MacArthur Park will open June 4.

The fee for a dip in a city pool in the past has been up to fifty cents per person but the fee was waived over the past two years due to the pandemic.

Kraham says by removing the small admission fee, it will be easier for families to enjoy all Binghamton parks.

The legislation to remove the swimming pool fees is expected to be voted on at the next City Council session.

More information about operating hours for the parks can be found at the city parks and recreation page on the city website.
