A 15-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl who were riding around in a stolen car were arrested following an Easter Day pursuit and crash in Broome County.

State troopers tried to stop a 2005 Subaru Legacy in the town of Kirkwood for an equipment violation. The vehicle was spotted at Court Street and Colesville Road early Sunday morning.

Police checked the car's registration and learned the vehicle had been reported stolen in Binghamton.

Authorities say the Binghamton boy who was driving the car attempted to elude troopers. The vehicle drove across a lawn at a residence on Kutalek Road before crashing into an embankment.

The boy, along with a Johnson City girl, ran from the car. The girl was apprehended by a Broome County sheriff's deputy a short time later. The boy was taken into custody Tuesday.

Both teens are being charged with criminal possession of stolen property. The cases are expected to be handled in family court.
