Broome County community leaders, elected officials and school officials are working December 6 to fill backpacks with food for children in the area.  The Food Bank of the Southern Tier is coordinating the project at East Middle School on East Frederick Street in Binghamton starting at 2:30 p.m.

Broome County Executive Jason Garnar, New York State Senator Fred Akshar, Mayor Richard David and other elected officials are among those expected to be on hand to hear an overview concerning the backpack program and the work of the Food Bank in its six-county service area before getting to work filling packs for children who may be facing food insecurity.
