Are People Still Using LinkedIn? Yes, and if You’re Not, You Should Be

Launched in 2003, LinkedIn is most often used as a way for professionals to network and learn more about each other as well as a way for those searching for jobs to post their resume and for employers to post the openings they've got. It's been nearly 20 years since LinkedIn was rolled out and one of the most common comments I hear from others is, "does anybody used LinkedIn anymore?"

The answer is a resounding yes, and if you're not using the website and are looking for a way to make more business contacts, you should absolutely be taking advantage of all of the free resources that LinkedIn has to offer.

Over 760 million people use Linked in and of those 760 million people, over 260 million people use it actively each month. LinkedIn is very popular with people who have college degrees. As a matter of fact, 50 percent of college graduates in the United States are users of LinkedIn.

Marketers report that LinkedIn provides them with 80 percent of their business-to-business social media leads so if you're in marketing and not using LinkedIn, you could be doing more harm to your career than you are helping it.

When it comes to the usefulness of companies and individuals using LinkedIn either to find a job or an employee, the website is doing amazing things for people. 122 million people say that they received a job interview through LinkedIn and 35.5 million people say they've been hired by someone they connected with through the site.

The even better news is that employers report that employees hired through LinkedIn are almost 50 percent less likely to quit for greener pastures within the first six months of their employment.
