Ahead of Visit by President Trump Pa. Governor Fights Lock-Down Revolt
The Associated Press reports Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf is struggling to fight against a Republican revolt over his stay-at-home orders and business shutdowns.
Egged on by state GOP lawmakers, some counties have threatened to defy his orders while at least a few business owners have reopened their doors despite his warnings while others have backed down under the Democrat's threats to hold back COVID-19 funding.
Commissioners in the rogue GOP-controlled counties say they can manage the coronavirus threat and reopen safely. Wolf says moving too fast risks jeopardizing the progress Pennsylvania has made against a virus that has sickened some 59,000 and killed nearly 4,000 Pennsylvanians.
The AP reports the chief instigator behind the Republican strategy is President Donald Trump, who is visits the Allentown area May 14 to visit a medical and surgical products distribution site and deliver some remarks.
The lehighvalleylive.com website reports that there had been no itinerary for the President's visit to Owens & Minor in Upper Mcugnie Township released as of May 13 but flight restrictions in the region have been filed for between 12 and 5:30 p.m.
