Afton Highway Superintendent Mourned Following Accident

Flags at the Afton Town Hall will fly at half-staff until the funeral for the Town Highway Superintendent who was killed in an accident at his home.

Officials say 50-year-old Daniel Smith was crushed when the pickup truck he was working on in his driveway on Oak Hill Spur at 6:34 p.m. May 14 rolled down the grade, crushing him.

Town officials said Smith was recently married and recently hired as highway superintendent.
