Addiction Services Locally Get New York State Funding
Bob Joseph/WNBF News [file][/caption]New York State Senator Fred Akshar says several Southern Tier agencies are getting state funding for heroin and opioid education, prevention and counseling.
The Republican says $385,000 is being shared by Lourdes Youth Services, Chenango County Behavioral Health, the Addiction Center of Broome County and CASA Trinity.
Lourdes Youth Services is getting $175,000 for school-based prevention counseling. CASA Trinity is being allocated $95,000 for school-based counseling and an opioid and heroin awareness campaign. $70,000 is going to Chenango County Behavioral Health for a program targeting students between 11 and 13 years old while $25,000 will be used by the Addiction Center of Broome County for a kitchen expansion, security upgrades and ambulatory detox.
