Residents voted 248 to 171 December 5 to move ahead with the “Renewal 20/20” capital project due to start construction in 2020 if approved by the state.

The plans for the improvements can be found on the Johnson City School District website: http://www.jcschools.com/District/renewal2020.html.

Many of the upgrades involve security and environmental systems like new LED lighting, entrance checkpoints and card readers and heating and cooling systems.  Other work will involve classroom upgrades and improving the bus parking lot.

The project will add .244% onto the school tax bill.
