Tajiri the Giraffe is 1 Year Old

Hard to believe that it’s been a little over a year since Animal Adventure became one of the most famous places in Broome County.

On April 15th, 2017, Tajiri the Giraffe was born. We had all been watching April on webcam for weeks before that--as had the rest of the world. April became on of the most watched YouTube ‘personalities’ on the planet. And all she really did was wander around her enclosure eating grass and looking pregnant.

I would see numerous posts from Facebook friends daily: “April looks like she’s getting ready.” “It’ll happen today, I think.”

I was in PA when it happened, but I scrambled back go Binghamton, excited to be one of the first who got to photograph Tajiri. The Animal Adventure crew will be celebrating Tajiri’s birthday in a few days with a special giraffe-safe cake and goodies from Baked Euphoria.

Since Tajiri’s birth, people have visited from all over the country to see in person what they had spent so many hours obsessing over via webcam.

I’ll be excited to photograph Tajiri again for the big 0-1.
