Everybody is talking about the extreme cold weather gripping most of the United States. At one point in the Binghamton area, wind chills reached 28 below last night.

I remember watching Johnny Carson when he used to host the 'Tonight Show', and he would do part of his monologue where he would make a statement such as; "It is so cold". And the audience would ask, "How cold is it"? And one time he said it was so cold that the Statue of Liberty had her torch under her gown. I don't know if that would even be enough to warm her up.

There are some strange things happening in this cold weather and here are some of them.

According to CBS 21 Harrisburg, Pennsylvania is having "frost quakes". They are little booms that are caused by the wet ground freezing too quickly.

In Wisconsin, some beer companies had to cancel their beer deliveries because the beer was starting to freeze in the delivery trucks. That bit of news came from the Leader-Telegram.

A radio station in Evansville, WKDQ, which is owned by the same company that owns 99 1 The Whale, Townsquare Media, reported that it was so cold in Iowa that antifreeze is actually freezing. And they filmed a video of one of their DJs trying to pour antifreeze out of a gallon container. You can see that video here.

CNN reported yesterday, that in Chicago, crews had to set train tracks on fire to clear the tracks of snow and ice.

There are a bunch of videos going around on social media where people are boiling water, then taking it outside and throwing it in the air to watch it instantly turn into snow.

Yeah, the wind chill has been a bitch the last few days, but we only have to deal with the cold again tomorrow and then things are going to warm up. WBNG Meteorologist Brian Schroeder is saying the temperatures should be in the mid to upper 40s for at least the first half of next week, and may even break the 50-degree mark.
