It's so easy to get complacent in a long-term relationship, but certain habits that you may not even realize that you're doing can slowly destroy the trust in your relationship. Bustle explains what these things are and why they can hurt partnership.

  • Talking about your partner behind their back is a bad habit to develop because you should really be addressing any issue that you have with your partner to their face. Every once in a while it's good to have an outside ear to bounce problems off of to make sure that you're feeling things that you should be feeling, but for the most part, your issues with your partner should be solely addressed with your partner.
  • Jumping to conclusions before you really know what happened can definitely rattle the trust in a relationship. Always let your significant other explain themselves whether they were meeting up with someone for lunch without telling you or they are suddenly more secretive with their phone than usual. It could be something completely harmless, so you should always hear them out!
  • Snooping can be such a destructive habit for any relationship! If you think that there is something to find, it's always better to ask your partner instead of snooping on their phone or social media pages to find something out. They may be acting weirdly because they're about to propose, not because they're cheating! Who knows, maybe not that, but ask them about your suspicions instead of snooping behind their back.

If someone else that you had dated before made you weary of dating others, that's totally normal, but please remember that everyone is different and that goes for in relationships as well. You should always be able to trust your partner and talk to them about any doubts that you may have.
