Binghamton police were investigating an incident in which armed masked men reportedly entered a downtown building.

Several patrol officers were sent to a residence at 56 Pine Street around 3:15 p.m. Wednesday. Someone reported seeing a person carrying what appeared to be a gun entering the building.

Moments later, three people were spotted running from the house. Police detained two of them. The third reportedly fled toward Court Street.

Officers and detectives canvassed the neighborhood. A replica gun reportedly was found in the area.

There were no reports of shots being fired during the incident.

A police canine unit was brought to the scene in an effort to track the person who ran from the area.

A jacket that may have been worn by the fleeing suspect was found discarded behind the Mirabito convenience store at 227 Court Street.

Police at the scene did not comment on the incident.
