Let me start off by saying I love animals. I hate to see them abused, suffering, or neglected. But, I am definitely not a vegetarian either. I love steak, chicken, pork, turkey, just about any kind of meat.

Over the course of my lifetime, I have used sayings such as  "kill two birds with one stone" and "not to beat a dead horse" many times. It turns out sayings like that offend PETA.

According to CNN, they would like people to use phrases like "bring home the bagels" instead of "bring home the bacon", or "feed two birds with one scone" instead of "kill two birds with one stone". (keep scrolling for more)

PETA took to Twitter to compare those sayings to homophobic and racist language. Their tweet read;

Just as it became unacceptable to use racist, homophobic, or ableist language, phrases that trivialize cruelty to animals will vanish as more people begin to appreciate animals for who they are and start 'bringing home the bagels' instead of the bacon.

Their tweet angered many people on social media. Many people were upset that they compared that language to homophobic, sexist, and racial slurs.

I am 100% against animal abuse, but to me, PETA comparing sayings like "being the guinea pig" to a racial slur, is a huge stretch.
