Police have arrested a man after someone reported seeing him put a pet rabbit into a microwave oven, causing the animal's death.

Authorities say 24-year-old Seth Decker of Lansing faces a felony charge in connection with the killing of a woman's rabbit.

According to New York State Police, a woman told troopers on Wednesday evening that Decker had threatened to harm her pet and another person.

The woman said Decker, who was angry following an argument, told her he would put her rabbit into the microwave oven at a residence on Lockerby Hill Road.

Investigators say another person observe Decker place the animal in the oven and turn it on. He allegedly threatened the witness before leaving.

Troopers discovered the dead rabbit inside the microwave oven.

Police tracked down Decker the next day. He was charged with aggravated cruelty to animals.

Decker was arraigned in Lansing town court and sent to Tompkins County Jail on $2,000 bail.
