The owner of Animal Adventure Park says "wildly inaccurate" information was released after a Canadian lynx was found in a vehicle heading to his Harpursville facility.

Jordan Patch said all of the necessary state and federal requirements were followed to transport the animal to Broome County.

The Canadian lynx in a crate was discovered by a state trooper who checked on a vehicle with a flat tire on Interstate 86 in Chemung County.

Patch said a problem occurred because the man who was transporting the animal to Animal Adventure didn't have a copy of the required document with him.

Patch said there was no issue with the legality of the transaction or the transportation involving the lynx. He said the matter was cleared up after a brief delay and the animal arrived at Animal Adventure Park a short time later.

Patch also noted that contrary to information released by authorities, the Canadian lynx was not being transported in a pickup truck. He said the animal actually was riding in a Lincoln town car.
