Keishorea Armstrong Goes National

Binghamton University Track & Field standout Keishorea Armstrong has her sights set on the 2018 NCAA Championships coming up next week in Eugene, Oregon.  She advanced after finishing 12th in the long jump at the NCAA East Regional Meet in Tampa, Florida last week.  The top 12 finishers in each event in the east advance and join the top 12 finishers from the West Regional Meet to compete for the national championship.

Armstrong has qualified two previous times for the NCAA championships.  In 2015 she finished 24th which earned her All-America Honorable Mention status. Last winter she finished 13th in the long jump and that was good for All-American Second Team honors.  The top eight earn All-America First Team honors.

Binghamton University has had one Division I national champion.  Rory Quiller won the pole vault indoor competition in 2008.  Eric Van Ingen was named to the All-America team four times and finished fifth in the indoor mile in 2011.  Armstrong is the first BU female track athlete to advance to the NCAA Division I national championships.

Armstrong will compete in the women's long jump that is scheduled for a start of 8:30 P.M. on Thursday, June seventh.  She and coach Mike Thompson will leave for Oregon on Monday to prepare for competition.
