With the warmer weather inevitably comes the mosquitoes. Where do they hide out during the winter? Nobody knows. Keeping them away may seem impossible, but Bustle has a few tricks that you may want to try the next time you go hiking.

  • Wear light colored, tightly woven clothes even though flowy shirts and pants might seem more comfortable in this heat. Mosquitoes are also more attracted to dark colors, go light colors can help to direct their bites elsewhere.
  • Lemon eucalyptus spray has been known to be just as effective as DEET bug spray at repelling mosquitoes from you. You'll smell better and be bite-free!
  • Scrub out the kiddie pool because mosquitoes love stagnant water, so no matter how much you do to repel the bugs, they can still breed unless you disrupt their habitat.

A fly swatter can only do so much for you this summer when you're outside by the bonfire and the mosquitoes are hungry.
