A Binghamton man faces felony weapon charges after he was pulled over while driving a motorcycle on Main Street in Johnson City.

Authorities say 41-year-old Elyis Ellsworth and an Endicott woman were arrested following the traffic stop around 10 p.m. Thursday.

According to Johnson City police, the motorcycle being driven by Ellsworth was pulled over for a traffic infraction.

Officers determined Ellsworth had a suspended license and the bike had plates for a different motorcycle.

Police say Ellsworth's backpack contained a loaded 9 millimeter handgun that had been reported stolen in the town of Chenango.

Ellsworth was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon. He also was charged with criminal possession of stolen property and aggravated unlicensed operation.. He was arraigned and sent to Broome County Jail.

Police say 22-year-old Melissa Watkins of Endicott, a passenger on the motorcycle, was found to be in possession of methamphetamine. She was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and not wearing a helmet while riding on a motorcycle.
