The Broome Opioid Awareness Council, Drug Free Communities and Lourdes Ascension Health Youth Services are hoping to reach a large audience in an effort to eliminate stigmas against those recovering from addiction disorders.

The groups will be at the Great New York State Fair August 31 for “Stomp Out Stigma Day.”

The event coincides with International Overdose Awareness Day and is to feature an inspirational talk with former professional BMX rider Tony Hoffman and free training sessions on the use of the overdose reversal drug, NARCAN.

BOAC says people and families struggling with substance use disorders need to be supported and know there are services available across the state.
