The weather is getting colder, hopefully you're starting to bundle up in the morning, and flu season is quickly approaching! Bustle says that there are some flu shot myths that we need to debunk before the season gets underway.

  • "Healthy people don't need to get the shot" is not a true statement by any means because the flu does not discriminate, and it wants to infect everyone. Even if you don't show symptoms of the flu, you could still have it, and you could still spread it.
  • "You don't need to get it every year" is also false because the strains of the flu that go around differ each year and therefore you need to be vaccinated for that year's strains of the flu. What was common last flu season, may not be common this flu season.
  • "The flu shot can give you the flu" if that was the case, we would have a lot more sick people around... which, thankfully, we do not... because of the vaccine! Statistics show that only 1-2% of people will have a negative reaction to the shot.

The flu shot is so important to get in order to keep yourself and your loved ones healthy this season.
