Authorities are investigating the cause of a fire at Binghamton University July 10 that drew firefighters from three departments.

Smoldering ash was found in the physical facilities building off Bunn Hill Road at around 3 p.m.

One firefighter reportedly suffered a heat-related injury. The extent of that person’s injuries have not been released.  No one in the building at the time the fire was discovered was injured.

In addition to fire agencies from Vestal, Johnson City and Binghamton, Police from the Town of Vestal and the City of Binghamton responded along with ambulance crews from the campus Harpur’s Ferry Ambulance, Union volunteer Emergency Squad and Superior Ambulance.

Responders were on the scene for over an hour.
