A man reportedly armed with an assault rifle was being sought in connection with a heist at a popular Town of Union pizzeria.

The robbery at Nirchi's Pizza restaurant at 701 Taft Avenue in Endwell was reported at 2:13 p.m. Monday.

Initial reports indicated the armed man was last seen walking away from the rear of the business.

The suspect may have been heading toward Columbus Avenue or Newell Road.

Area law enforcement agencies were advised to be on the lookout for a white man wearing a green rain poncho and a black ski mask.

There were no reports of injuries in the robbery and there was no information on what may have been taken.

Several marked New York State Police units responded to the business. A canine unit was being used in an effort to track the suspect.
