The Custard Corner in Endicott won't be opening its doors right away but there is a possibility it will return to business at some point this year.

Owner Fred Corl of Vestal decided to retire from running the frozen custard store at the end of September. He'd been operating the business since 1983.

Corl has been looking for a new owner for the Custard Corner. On Tuesday, he said he's had a "bunch of inquiries" but the place on Vestal Avenue is still available.

Ordinarily, Corl would be preparing to open up for the season by the end of March. Now that he's retired from the business, he said "it's been a little different." But he's content with his decision, saying "it's over for me."

Still, Corl is hoping a new owner will take over the Custard Corner. He said it "could be a great little business for someone."
