Downtown Cantina Opens Doors to the Public TODAY
It would be an understatement to say the buzz around Dos Rios Cantina is palpable. The new downtown hot spot is sure to be the place you want to be at and take Instagram pictures of all summer long.
I had the please of eating at Dos Rios last Thursday and I was more than impressed. I started out with an amazing cocktail. The "Drunk Earl Grey" might be my go to summer beverage. Somewhere between a spiced mojito and iced tea, it was refreshing and the perfect way to start my meal.
For an appetizer I got their Elote: roasted corn, Mexican mayo, cotija cheese, chipotle, and cilantro. I couldn't shovel the corn into my mouth fast enough. I'm not a huge corn-on-cob fan, so I was pleasantly surprised when this dish came in a bowl.
I also ordered the Plantain Boat: roasted plantain, carnitas, pico de gallo, jalapeno, chipotle crema, avocado aoli, and cilantro. This savory Mexican banana split is the perfect food to share with a friend or a date.
My entree was the Corona Shrimp Tacos: Corona battered mojo shrimp, avocado ranch, pico de gallo, red cabbage slaw, chiptole aoli. These tacos were delicious. I never knew a little fried shrimp could pack so much punch. The shrimp pairs well with the crunch of the cabbage slaw and coolness of the pico de gallo. The avocado ranch really rounds out the taco with a smooth, creamy mouth feel that balances with the crispy shrimp.
I also indulged in the Spicy Stud cocktail. I am the first one to admit I do not like tequilla, but this drink changed my mind. Its a combination of citrus, sweet, and a lot of spice in a cocktail and it somehow works.
Dos Rios Cantina will also launch specials as well. They will have Taco Tuesday will feature $5 order of Street Tacos and $3 pints of Dos Equis. Wednesday will feature 1/2 price margaritas and Thursdays will feature "Party Bingo" with $3 Dos Equis pints. Saturday and Sunday will have a Mexican Brunch menu from 11am-4pm and will include bottomless mimosas.
Dos Rios Cantina will open its doors to the public on June 12th at 4 p.m.
