The hustle and bustle of the holidays are coming into full swing, and whether you're hosting friendsgiving or thanksgiving or a cookie exchange with your neighbors, there will be more movement and likely more people around your house, and that may make your pets a little nervous. The people at Bustle have found some of the signs that your dog may be experiencing anxiety.

  • Peeing in the house when they are well-trained and this is an out-of-the-ordinary trait for them because dribbling pee while they walk is considered part of the fight-or-flight response. So if your dog is nervous or feeling threatened, they may defecate or urinate in the house.
  • Chewing everything in sight from door frames to window sills, for some reason when your dog has a lot of nervous energy they may act out in ways that you don't like. A new chew toy can help curb these bad behaviors while you're at work and can help keep them safe from ingesting pieces of wood from your doors and furniture.
  • Escaping and running from the house can be a surefire way to know that your dog is trying to get away from a situation that was making them nervous and anxious. You obviously don't want that, so trying to keep them away from the doors, and if you can, create a second barrier (like a fence) so that you're dog is still safe even if they get out the door.

You love your pet, so keeping them safe and happy is so important this time of the year as you may be moving around more, out shopping and not home as often, and preparing for big parties and lots and lots of friends and family coming to stay.
