Another location is being added in Broome County for residents to conveniently conduct their business with the Department of Motor Vehicles.

County Clerk Joseph Mihalko says a new DMV drop box is being offered outside the First Ward Senior Center for residents to drop off their license renewals and vehicle registration renewals.

Drop boxes are also located at the Broome West Senior Center in Endwell, the Eastern Broome Senior Center in Harpursville, Northern Broome Senior Center in Whitney Point, Johnson City Senior Center and the Broome County Office Building in Downtown Binghamton.

Mihalko says only 40% of DMV transactions take place at the local offices with the rest processed by the state.  That means, Broome misses out in about $500,000 in revenue through local processing.  The local offices keep 12.7% of the fees when processed in the county.  That money can be used for infrastructure repairs or to support local property taxes.
