Crime Victims Rights Week is Underway in Broome County

National Crime Victims’ Rights week is being recognized in Broome County with Ceremonies, presentations and the annual viewing of the Remembrance Wall at the Oakdale Mall.  More names have been added to the memorial this year, to recognize and honor the lives of local homicide victims.

The wall will remain on display through Sunday, April 15

A ceremony to recognize victims, survivors and families will be held at Otsiningo Park at 6 p.m. April 10.

Friday, April 13, Senator Fred Akshar will address the annual Breakfast at Terra Cotta in Downtown Binghamton at 8 a.m. Crime Victims Assistance Center Executive Director Raini Baudendistel says the Senator brings a unique perspective to the event being that, before being elected to the New York State Senate, he served many years in law enforcement, including as Broome County’s Undersheriff.

The public is welcome to attend. The breakfast is $20 and reservations are suggested by contacting CVAC at (607) 723-3200.

Miniature Remembrance Walls will be on display at Binghamton City Hall and the Broome County Library starting Monday, April 16.
