A Chenango County man is to be sentenced June 1 for beating an Oxford man to death and stealing guns and other items from the Charles Kelley Road home.

47 year old Jeremy Coates has been found guilty on all counts in the killing of 58 year old David Green in September of 2016.

Coates girlfriend, 43 year old Melissa Crispell, who pleaded guilty to robbery and testified against Coates, is expected to get 15 years in prison while Coates could be sentenced to up to life.

Officials say the three knew each other and Coates and Crispell went to Green’s home where they took guns and other items as the man was beaten around 20 times with a hammer, battleaxe, a 75 pound stone slab and other items.

The defense claimed Crispell had killed Green, not Coates.

The jury April 18 handed down guilty verdicts for the first degree murder and robbery counts.
