Broome County Earth Fest Plans on Southern Tier Close Up
One of the oldest celebrations of Mother Earth in the United States is coming up in Broome County and is the focus of the weekly, local public affairs program, Southern Tier Close Up April 15.
Earth Day Southern Tier and Earth Fest representative Chris Burger says there is still space for vendors and exhibitors for this year's festival April 29 to be held on the SUNY Broome Community College campus. The deadline to reserve a space is April 20th. Participants can register online at http://earthdaysoutherntier.org/earth-fest.
Berger also touches on the changing landscape in attitude toward environmental issues like climate change, ways to conserve and movement away from fossil fuels.
Berger, himself, is a bit of an enviornmentally-friendly legend, being featured on a national television channel morning program while he was a Broome County legislator demonstrating his family's zero waste household, which is maintained to this day.
This year's Earth Fest features ecology-themed exhibits from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, Sierra Club, the Southern Tier Bike Club and others along wit live music, food, magic shows and a large number of children's activities.
Berger talks about several other aspects of the day, the hours and the special admission deal that helps feed the hungry in the region.
All the details can be heard on Southern Tier Close Up, Sunday at 6 a.m. on Wild 104.
