Congressman Anthony Brindisi says he's willing to wait to be paid until the partial shutdown of the federal government ends.

The Oneida County Democrat was sworn in to represent New York's 22nd District in the House on Thursday.

Speaking on WNBF Radio's Binghamton Now program on Friday morning, Brindisi said he'd be "willing to withhold my salary until the government's up and running."

While he'd accept a delay in getting paid, Brindisi didn't like the prospect of actually giving up his salary for the duration of the shutdown. He said "I guess I have to make a decision and see how it goes. I'm going to withhold it for the time period and hopefully we can get things up and running in the near future so everyone can get paid."
