Binghamton Hockey Hall of Fame member Ray Emery is dead at the age of 35. Emery drowned in a swimming accident early this (Sunday) morning in Hamilton Ontario Harbour.  Reports from Hamilton police indicate Emery was with a group of friends who decided to dive into the water around 6:00 A.M.  When they could not locate Emery they called for help.

According to a twitter release from Hamilton Police Emery's body was recovered at approximately 2:50 P.M.  They are listing drowning as the cause of death. Police are continuing their investigation.

Emery played in four different seasons with the Binghamton Senators from 2002-03 through 2007-08. He played 50 or more games in three seasons and two more in the 07-08 campaign.

He set Binghamton records for: most games played by a goaltender with 156, career wins with 77, shutouts with ten, and career goals against average of 2.51.

Emery played for four NHL teams including Ottawa, Philadelphia, Chicago and Anaheim. He was a key in helping the Chicago Blackhawks win the Stanley Cup in 2013 when he went 17-1-0.

Emery returned to Binghamton in April, 2017 for his induction into the Binghamton Hockey Hall of Fame.
