Some capital improvement work is being planned for the interior and exterior of Binghamton High School.

City school superintendent Tonia Thompson said the projects are scheduled to be done next summer at the Main Street school campus.

Thompson said efforts will be made to "improve the sidewalk perception" of the building. She said "significant work" will be done to the cafeteria and to the Oak Street side of the school.

Speaking on WNBF Radio's Binghamton Now program, Thompson said it's going to "look much more like entering onto a college campus." She said with landscaping that "moves into where the new entrance is going to be."

Thompson said changes will be made to improve accessibility to the school for those who park behind the building.

Spending for the planned work at the high school was included in a capital improvement proposal approved by Binghamton voters last year.
