An 18-year-old Binghamton man was critically injured when he was struck by a minivan on Long Island.

Authorities say Noah Bernard Farrelly was hurt when he was hit by the vehicle in Stony Brook around 10:50 a.m. Tuesday.

According to Suffolk County Police, Farrelly was jogging across a roadway and crossing against the light at the time.

The 2018 Binghamton High School graduate was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment.

Investigators say Farrelly was struck by a Dodge Caravan. The driver of the minivan, 65-year-old Mohammad Refaat of Patchogue, was not injured.

Police say the vehicle was impounded for a safety check. No charges were immediately filed against the driver.

Farrelly was a standout cross country runner as a Binghamton High School student. He is a member of Stony Brook University's cross country team.
